Module: Practical modules
Semester: summer
ECTS points: 5
Duration: 1 week in June
This practical course is a one-week block course in the summer semester (usually around June).
Students get to know a large variety of typical crops from the region around Würzburg and will record vascular plants, pollinators, pest insects and natural enemies comparing organic and conventional cereal fields. The insects will be identified with a focus on carabid beetles and the data will be statistically analysed. After the course a scientific protocol will be written individually by the students. During the course we will visit an organic farmer with vineyards, cereal fields, fodder beet and cattle and will have a tour to a newly established agroforestry site.
