Molecular biodiversity monitoring

Module: Practical modules
Semester: winter
ECTS points: 5
Duration: 2 weeks in November – December

Molecular methods are being increasingly used in ecological research. This module uses practical experience to introduce students to molecular methods that are currently being applied in biodiversity monitoring and other ecological research questions. The students learn how to plan and implement current molecular methods, such as DNA metabarcoding. They also learn how to use bioinformatics and statistics to process and analyse the resulting data. At the end of the module, the students present the discuss their findings in a scientific way.
