Statistics and R in Ecology and Conservation

This block course teaches students the basics of statstics as well as the programming, graphics and statistics software R, with a special focus on methods and applications in and for ecology and conservation biology. In practical exercises, students lear the basics of the programming language R (base R and tidyverse) for data processing, analyses and graphicals as well as standard methods of descriptive and analytical statistics (e.g. classical tests, linear regression, ANOVA, generalized linear models, mixed models, multivariate statistics, etc.).
