My research focuses on investigating the effects of chemical pollution and other stressors on ecosystems. I enjoy using a variety of approaches in my work, such as bioacoustics, molecular methods, field work and lab experiments to combine the fields of ecotoxiology and ecology. This allows me to connect pollutants, such as pesticides and industrial chemicals, with their potential ecological consequences, ranging from the microbial level to food web and ecosystem-wide effects. I often work with insect consumers such as bats and spiders in terrestrial ecosystems and at ecosystem boundaries. In addition, I help to run the university’s Ecological Station Fabrikschleichach, which is an ideal place to conduct research and teach students about ecology in a hands-on way.
