Climate and land-use change are driving profound shifts in global biodiversity. My research focuses on key questions: What are the main drivers of insect diversity? How do organisms, species communities and ecosystem functions respond to environmental changes? And where are the limits of organisms’ adaptive capacity? To answer these questions, I conduct research in both pristine alpine and heavily human-influenced urban ecosystems. I investigate biodiversity changes from the molecular to the community level, combining observational and experimental approaches in the field and laboratory. The diverse and complex life histories of insects—especially wild bees—fascinate me. This passion not only drives my research but also motivates me to share this fascination in order to inspire more people to be engaged in insect conservation.
