Theoretical lectures (choose at least one, but both are recommended):
- Conservation Biology – 10 ECTS
- Animal Ecology – 10 ECTS
Practical courses:
- Biodiversity, Ecosystem Services and Conservation – 5 ECTS, Compulsory course
- Animal Ecology and Tropical Ecology F1 – 10 ECTS, 5 weeks
- choose Macroecology or Forest Ecology (each one week)
- choose 2 sub modules from Modelling in Ecology, Remote Sensing in Ecology, Chemical Ecology (each two weeks)
- choose 2 other sub modules of Animal Ecology and Tropical Ecology F1 offered in Summer Semester or sub modules from Conservation Biology F1 to complete 5 weeks
Semester 2 (part 1)
- Summer semester (SS)
- Time: April to July
- Location: University of Würzburg
Theoretical lectures:
- Tropical Biology – 10 ECTS
Practical courses:
- Choose 3 sub modules from: Global Change Biology (5 ECTS), Agroecology (5 ECTS), Soil Ecology (5 ECTS), Remote Sensing 2 (5 ECTS), Forest Ecology 2 (5 SCTS)
Semester 2 (part 2)
- Summer semester (SS)
- Time: August to December
- Location: University of Bergen
Choose BIO299 Research Practice in Biology as equivalence to a second F1 in Würzburg, and additional courses depending on your interests.
Semester 3-4
- Winter semester (WS) + Summer semester (SS)
- Time: January to October
- Location: University of Würzburg or University of Bergen
Practical courses (choose either not both):
- Animal Ecology and Tropical Ecology F2 – 10 ECTS
- Conservation Biology F2 – 10 ECTS
Final thesis (as continous of F2 module)

- Tropical Biology – 10 ECTS
Practical courses:
- Global Change Biology – 5 ECTS, Compulsory course
- Conservation Biology F1 – 10 ECTS, require 5 weeks (5 sub modules)
- choose 1-3 sub modules from Agroecology, Soil Ecology, Forest Ecology 2, Ecology in Alpine Environments (each one week)
- choose 1-2 sub modules from Honey and Wild bees Ecology, Remote Sensing in Ecology 2, Tropical Ecology (each two weeks)
- if you have not reached the required 5 weeks: choose sub modules offered in WS from Conservation Biology F1 or from Animal Ecology and Tropical Ecology F1 to complete the 5 weeks
